The trick to grocery shopping in Grenada is to 'shop around'! Fresh fruit straight from the tree, organic vegetables and meats, plus local homemade products are just some of the delicious things you can buy in Grenada. Imported and international produce is also available.
There are a number of supermarkets in St. George's, from large international chains to smaller grocery shops. IGA, at Spiceland Mall in Grand Anse, has the widest selection. They import a large range of international goods from the US and UK, as well as stocking many local products. Foodfair, at Grand Anse Mall, and Foodland, on Kirani James Boulevard, are good for fresh locally grown produce, meats/fish and general household supplies. CK Greaves at Sugarmill roundabout sells in bulk for those who wish to really stock up.
Smaller grocery shops/branches are located on the Carenage, next to the bus terminal in St. George, and in Springs. The MNIB (Marketing and National Importing Board) also has well stocked fruit/veg shops at the Excel Plaza, in Grand Anse, or on Young Street, in St. George. You can also purchase fresh fish at Spice Isle Fish House, along Western Main Road in Grand Mal Bay. The 'Meat and Meet' Butcher shop, located at Whisper Cove Marina, sells local organic meats and deli products. Le Boucher, in Prickly Bay Marina, also sells local meats prepared European style.
For super fresh vegetables and fruit, stop at any of the numerous roadside vendors and stalls. You can normally get a good deal when buying a larger quantity of produce. Also, don't miss visiting the Farmer's Market, located next to the Trade Center in Grand Anse (behind IGA) on Wednesday mornings from 6:00am.
There are many bakery shops in St. George's too. Choose from the Merry Baker in Port Louis Marina, Sweetly Confectioners in Morne Rouge or Sweet Traditions Bakery Cafe on Bruce Street. Each village will normally have a local bakery, if you are staying further afield.
